Madison High School: Portland, Oregon
So, how is it that a middle school in Kansas and a high school in Oregon are collaborating on this project. Well, the talented and opportunistic Ms. Smoke is always on the lookout for ways to bring talented students together. Through a common acquaintance (my wife), I met Ms. Smoke three years ago and as a high school art teacher, Ms. Smoke asked me what would be the best way to create the characters for the Tom Sawyer Game and I responded that Illustrator would be best. Next thing I know my Intermediate Digital Design class is doing all the final character colorizations, views, and simple animations. It will be a first for me and my students, but I believe it will give them some real experience creating for a client and using their Illustrator skills.
Has anyone heard of the movie"Twilight"? If so, Madison High School played a substantial role in the movie. Our cafeteria, one classroom, and hallway were used in the movie. The science classroom scene was actually filmed in my art room, so you could say I am, indirectly, famous. The two years that followed the release of the movie, I had, on average, 100 "Twilight" crazed fans in my room taking pictures. The fans that came the furthest were from Germany. I will keep my personal film critique to myself.
